I graduated from Illinois State University in December of 1993. I majored in Criminal Justice. I got my Masters in Business Administration from the University of Central Texas in December of 1996. I got my law degree from South Texas College of Law in December of 1999. I got my Masters law degree from the University of Houston in May of 2002.

I have extensive criminal trial experience. As a prosecutor, I tried 16 jury trials with 12 convictions. Additionally, as a prosecutor I second chaired another 10 jury trials. Now as a criminal defense attorney, I have tried 8 jury trials with 4 acquittals. I have also second chaired other criminal defense attorneys in 2 jury trials with both resulting in acquittals. Finally, the State has dismissed 14 of my cases on the day of trial.

I have extensive criminal law experience as a result of my work experiences. While in law school, I interned for an U.S. Magistrate Judge where I learned about Federal Criminal Law. I also interned for the First District Court of Appeals where I learned about appeals in criminal cases. Finally, I learned about criminal law and immigration law by interning for the Immigration and Naturalization Service. Since graduating from law school, I have continued to increased my knowledge of criminal law by working as a prosecutor for the Galveston County District Attorney's Office and by opening my own office that specializes in criminal law. Additionally, I have learned about the Grand Jury system by serving as a Grand Juror for the 182nd District Court in Harris County. Finally, I continue to learn about criminal law that might help your case by reading criminal law journals, case law, and by attending continuing legal education courses focusing on criminal law.
